IUKA, Miss. – North Mississippi Medical Center-Iuka has earned the highest quality rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS).

“Our patients have always been our purpose,” said Barry Keel, administrator for NMMC-Iuka. “We have an excellent team at NMMC-Iuka, and this recognition by CMS is a direct reflection of the daily dedication that our team members and local physicians provide for our communities.”

NMMC-Iuka is one of four hospitals in Mississippi and 290 across the country to earn a 5-star rating for 2025.

“We live here. We care here,” said Kathy Patrick, chief nursing officer for NMMC-Iuka. “Our efforts are driven by improving outcomes for our patients because you are our neighbors, friends and family.”

CMS publishes quality ratings annually using data gathered from hospitals across the country to track performance, outcomes, patient experience and other measures.

The performance measures aim to track how well hospitals provide the recommended care based on guidelines and standards of care. Outcomes measures reflect the results of care, rather than whether or not a specific treatment or intervention was performed.

Patient experience is measured by a national, standardized survey of hospital patients about their experiences during a recent inpatient hospital stay. CMS also includes data on the use of medical imaging, care transitions, emergency department operations, care coordination and patient safety.

The ratings are available on Care Compare on Medicare.gov.
